(See Photo 8 and 9 dated 10/08/2014). Due to the depth
of water this condition could not be confirmed during this investigation.
This quantity includes monolithic wingwalls.
There is a spall up to 6 inches x 6 inches x 1 inch deep on the top corner of the curtain wall at Abutment 6. (See Photo 6). There is
no exposed reinforcing steel and there is no work required at this time.
Non-Routine Inspection Element Notes:
Non-Routine Inspection Element Notes:
Non-Routine Inspection Element Notes:
Non-Routine Inspection Element Notes:
Non-Routine Inspection Element Notes:
UWI (08/05/2019): The steel shells were found to be in good condition. They appear to be painted or coated, the coating remains
intact, and no corrosion was evident. All columns will remain in CS1.
The following was noted during the 8/26/2014 Underwater Inspection:
22 feet of RC pier wall was inspected, 7.5 feet each at Piers 2, 3 and 4. Piers 3 and 4 are in condition state 1. Pier 2 is in condition
state 2 due to the scour defect in condition state 2 described below.
PIER 2
Overall, Pier 2 was found to be in good to satisfactory condition, with some minor deficiencies noted on the concrete pier shaft which
are not structurally significant at this time. The concrete of the pier shaft was typically smooth and sound with negligible scaling of up
to 0.06-inch penetrations. The water depth at this pier is described in the pile cap scour defect.
PIER 3
Overall, Pier 3 was found to be in good to satisfactory condition, with some minor deficiencies noted on the concrete pier shaft which
are not structurally significant at this time. The concrete of the pier was typically smooth and sound, however, a band of light scaling
was noted from the high waterline down to the channel bottom, with typical penetrations of 0.25 to 0.5 inch.
A heavy accumulation of timber debris was noted in the vicinity of the pier. The debris was up to 15 inches in diameter. The channel
bottom material in the vicinity of the pier typically consisted of silty sand. The maximum water depth at Pier 3 was 1 foot on the west
side with the east side of the pier dry.
PIER 4
Overall, Pier 4 was found to be in good condition, with some minor deficiencies noted on the concrete pier shaft which are not
structurally significant at this time. Pier 4 was dry at the time of the inspection. The water's edge was approximately 3 feet away on
the Span 3 side where the water was 1 foot deep.
UWI (08/05/2019): The pier walls exhibit minor abrasion but are in otherwise good condition. All quantities which received an UWI on
this date will remain in CS1.
UWI (08/05/2019): Aside from the patched area noted by the ABME above, all piers remain in good condition. The concrete was
smooth and sound. The current condition states will not change.
UWI (08/05/2019): The Pier 2 pile cap is exposed as described below under Defect 6000, Scour. The exposed concrete was found to
be smooth and sound.
UWI (08/05/2019): The entire pile cap of Pier 2 is exposed. The cap along the western side of the pier is even with the mudline. At the
northeast corner of the cap, there is approximately 0.5 meters (1.6 feet) of vertical exposure. Near the mid length of the east side of
