The piles were not exposed for visual inspection. No
indication of pile distress was noted in any substructure element.
There were hairline pattern cracks at random spacing noted in the top of the caps as seen from the bridge deck. No defect is
necessary at this time.
The pile element is included to indicate the presence of piles on this structure. The piles were not exposed for visual inspection. No
indication of pile distress was noted in any substructure element.
The paint system on the column shells is faded and chalky throughout but still provides adequate protection to the underlying steel.
Non-Routine Inspection Element Notes:
the pier, the vertical exposure increases to 2.0 meters (6.6 feet), where the mudline was found at a depth of 3.5 meters (11.5 feet). At
the southeast corner it shallows slightly to approximately 1.5 meters (4.9 feet) of vertical exposure. Along this east face, the tremie
seal was found at a depth of 2.5 meters (8.2 feet). No undermining was evident. The cap was not exposed at any other pier. The
quantity of 7.0 meters (22.0 feet) of pile cap will remain in CS2.
This element is includes the CISS pile extensions above the ground line and below the RC portion:
The following was noted during the 8/26/2014 Underwater Inspection:
*6 CISS Piles were inspected, 2 each at Piers 2, 3 and 4. All piles inspected are in condition state 1.
*All CISS were painted and had little to no corrosion present. There were normal local scour holes around all piles up to 3 feet deep.
*The upstream piles at Piers 2 and 3 had water up to 3 feet deep. The upstream pile at Pier 4 was dry.
*The downstream piles at all piers were in water less than 1 foot deep.
