The abutments were dry and <br />the soffit and superstructure were observed from the canal banks. A complete routine inspection was performed on all of the visible <br />elements by walking on and about the structure. <br />Due to the substantial depth at Pier 2, the condition of the pier below the water level can be established only through a diving inspection. <br />An underwater inspection was performed on 02/13/2018 by the Underwater Investigations Team. All identified defects from that <br />inspection have been incorporated into the condition states of the respective elements and have been described in the element or defect <br />notes. Refer to the 02/13/2018 underwater inspection report for further detail. <br />MISCELLANEOUS <br />A new routine map view photo was added during this investigation. See Photo 1. <br />DECK AND ROADWAY <br />The approach AC is deteriorating, settling and has cracking up to 2 inches wide and spaced as close as 6 inches on center that are <br />developing into potholes that are up to 12 inches in diameter. (See Photos 5 and 6 dated 06/08/2022). This condition has been previously <br />reported and no significant changes were noted. <br />There are multiple spalls up to 6 inches in diameter x 4 inches deep on the exterior and interior faces of the RC bridge rail curb. See <br />Photo 2. <br />SUPERSTRUCTURE <br />There is a pipe hanger with a missing bolt in Span 1 near Pier 2. (See Photo 6 dated 06/14/2016). This condition has been previously <br />reported and no significant changes were noted. <br />SUBSTRUCTURE <br />There is an erosion gulley forming behind the right Abutment 1 wingwall. The gulley measured 28 inches wide x 16 inches deep.
