Unlock the span, loosen the lock nut on the hold-down rod, loosen the bolt that locks the seating nut onto the
rod, turn the seating nut one flat in the downward direction, hold it there while locking it back onto the rod and tightening the lock nut.
Close the span and recheck the seat for movement. Repeat as needed until no movement is detected under vehicular loading.
8/13/2015: Adjust the live load shoe pad to limit movement caused by presence of vehicular traffic.
3/07/2017: Maintenance staff stated that the shoe pads had been replaced with thicker pads to limit the deck movement. The toe lock
hold down on the North East corner still needs to be tightened. The lock bar can be moved by hand when it is in the locked position,
and there is still some bounce in the deck during vehicular loading.
**Update 5/18/20** Both lock bars have a lot of play between the receivers and bar. The slop in the fit has allowed the bars to bang
against the receivers to the point that the bars now have an indented area where they engage the receivers. **Update 6/1/21**
problem still exists.
North hoist motor machinery brake solenoid is making loud humming sound. Check and replace the solenoid.
Gates: Wire nuts and/or butt splices are used for cables for warning lights but not sliced/sealed properly. Splice the conductors and
seal the connections in a waterproof manner.
North Gate #2 and South Gate #2 don't come all the way down. Adjust the limit switches to bring the gates down to the horizontal
positions.
The balance weight of both the North and South spans are span light compared to their counterweights. Remove enough weight from
the counter weights so that the spans will be span heavy. The south span is the worst and must be in speed 5-6 just to get it to start
moving down from the full open position.
There are no navigation lights in the channel or on the two spans to delininate the limits of the navigable waterway. Confirm the
navigation lights requirement from USCG.
South gate #2: Lever arm and main axle bearings are worn. The brake adjustment of the down stop is loose.
North Gate #1: Drive machinery needs lubrication--axle bearings, lever arm bearings, and gears. Brake pads are not contacting the
brake drums for up and down position--adjust the limit switches for proper brake pad operation
North Gate #2: There is a noticable failing bearing noise (either motor bearing or gear reducer bearing). Brake pads are not
contacting the brake drums for up and down position--adjust the limit switches for proper brake pad operation. Gate enclosure is
damaged and door hinges are broken.
The North KW meter on the bridge control console is not working. Check connections as shown on the plans and rewire correctly.
Replace meter if needed. See AS BUILT plans.
The North Hold Down Motor and the South Hold Down Motor are drawing more than nameplate rated current. Check alignment,
possible binding and grease as needed to make the travel operation smoother.
Dist Target
Dist Target
Dist Target
Dist Target
Dist Target
Dist Target
Dist Target
Dist Target
Dist Target
EA
EA
EA
EA
EA
EA
EA
EA
EA
Status
Status
Status
Status
Status
Status
Status
Status
Status
PROPOSED
PROPOSED
PROPOSED
PROPOSED
PROPOSED
PROPOSED
PROPOSED
PROPOSED
PROPOSED
