The Work Plan proposes to collect three soil and four
groundwater samples from the previously excavated gasoline spill incident area. One of the
groundwater samples will be collected down-gradient of the spill incident area. A Report of Findings
will be submitted documenting the field activities and the sample results.
Site History
On 7 November 2012, a petroleum tanker truck was involved in a traffic incident that resulted in the
release of approximately 2000 gallons of gasoline into a drainage channel in the San Joaquin County
right of way at 27282 Lone Tree Road in Escalon (Site). On 9 November 2012, San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department referred regulatory oversight of the incident to the Central Valley
Regional Water Quality Control Board(Central Valley Water Board).
On 8 and 9 November 2012, Central Valley Water Board staff arrived at the Site to evaluate ongoing
site mitigation activities. From 8 November through 13 November 2012, approximately 900 cubic yards
of gasoline impacted soils were excavated from the drainage channel and adjacent property. Additional
excavation to the south was not completed due to the risk of undermining the structural integrity of the
existing road. On November 14 and 15 the impacted soil was transported to Forward Landfill in San
Joaquin County, CA.
On 24 December 2012,Apex Envirotech,.Inc. submitted a report titled Petroleum Tanker Spilt
Response which provided a description of the soil removal action and confirmation soil sample results.
The confirmation samples contained some residual gasoline concentrations (highest 340 mg/kg). This
sample was collected underneath the roadway and was determined to be infeasible to excavate. No
groundwater confirmation samples were collected.
KARL E. LONOLEY SCD.
