GENERAL NOTES <br />1. The Contractor must obtain all permits and licences required for the construction <br />and completion of the project, and must perform all work in accordance with the <br />requirements and conditions of all permits and approvals applicable to the project. <br />2. The Contractor must submit a temporary traffic control plan and sidewalk closure <br />plan to the Engineer for approval two weeks prior to construction. <br />3. One week prior to the start of work, the Contractor must furnish to the Engineer a <br />schedule showing proposed street closures on each half—day basis. No work will <br />commence until this schedule is approved by the Engineer. <br />4. Prior to commencing any work, it will be the Contractor's responsibility to have each <br />utility company locate in the field their main services lines and laterals. The <br />Contractor must notify members of the Underground Service Alert (USA) 48 hours in <br />advance of performing excavation work by calling the toll free number <br />(1-800-642-2444) or 81 1 . <br />5. The Contractor must field verify all existing highway and utility facilities' locations and <br />depths. It will be the Contractor's sole responsibility to locate and protect all existing <br />highway and utility facilities, so that no damage results to them during the <br />performance of this contract. <br />6. Storm Drain Inlet Protection Units (Catch Basin Filters) are to remain in place and <br />functioning from the beginning of the working days until the end of the project. <br />7. Existing highway and utility facilities must remain in place unless otherwise noted. <br />8. Existing trees, shrubs, fences, mailboxes and other frontage improvements must <br />remain in place unless otherwise noted. <br />9. For Minor Concrete work, placement of temporary "No Parking" signs/barricades must <br />be placed no less than 24 hours prior to work. Contractor is responsible for <br />contacting adjacent property owner(s) to arrange for access as necessary during <br />concrete work. For Rubberized Chip Seal and Slurry Seal work, placement of <br />temporary "No Parking" signs/barricades must be placed no less than 72 hours prior <br />to work. <br />10. The Contractor must exercise due caution and carefully preserve survey bench marks, <br />control points, reference points and all survey stakes, and must bear all expenses <br />for replacement and/or errors caused by their unnecessary loss or disturbance. <br />11. All Minor Concrete (Curb, Gutter & Sidewalk) work that is to be removed will be saw <br />cut or removed to the limits shown on the plans. The cost of saw cutting will be <br />considered as paid for under the various items of work involved. <br />0 <br />D 12. Existing drainage facilities must remain in place unless otherwise noted. All new Curb, Gutter and Sidewalk must conform to the existing flowline elevations <br />with a straight grade between conforms unless otherwise noted. <br />14. Match new joint and score mark spacing to existing Crack Control Joints whenever <br />possible. <br />15. Install Expansion Joints at beginning and end of new Curb, Gutter and Sidewalk and <br />between new sidewalks and existing driveways. <br />16. Existing sprinkler systems, or portions thereof, will be maintained or protected during <br />construction operations. Any damage to the existing system must be repaired within <br />48 hours at the Contractor's expense. Upon completion of the work, the Contractor <br />must restore the sprinkler system to its original condition. <br />17. All intersection and cul—de—sac radii within project limits must be slurry sealed to <br />lip of existing curb and gutter or edge of pavement. <br />18. Surface preparation work must be as directed by the Engineer. Locations and <br />dimensions of Pavement Repair will be determined by the Engineer. Placement of <br />Rubberized Chip Seal must not begin until the HMA used in Pavement Repair has <br />been in place a minimum of 18 hours. <br />19. The aggregate for Slurry Seal must be Type 2. <br />20. The Contractor must perform street sweeping throughout the duration of the <br />Rubberized Chip Seal and Slurry Seal operations of the project per the specifications. <br />Full compensation for sweeping operations must be considered as included in the <br />contract unit prices paid for Rubberized Chip Seal and Slurry Seal (Type 2) items of <br />work and no separate payment will be made therefor. <br />21. The Contractor must not begin Rubberized Chip Seal and Slurry Seal operations after <br />1:00 PM without the approval from the Engineer. <br />22. Areas in County right—of—way used by the Contractor for staging and/or storage of <br />materials will be approved by the Engineer. The areas utilized by the Contractor for <br />staging and/or storage area must be restored to their original condition. Any <br />damages or unclean conditions to staging or storage areas must be repaired at the <br />Contractor's own expense. It will be the Contractor's responsibility to obtain <br />permission from the property owner to stage equipment or store materials on private <br />property. The Contractor must provide a letter of release from the property owner of <br />the areas utilized for staging and/or storage of materials. <br />23. The Contractor will be responsible for adequately scheduling inspection and testing of <br />all facilities constructed under this contract with a minimum 24 hour notice to the <br />County. All testing must conform to the Standard Specifications.
