Mr. James P. Bane Proposal PR89011
Subsurface Investigation March 6 , 1989
Proposed State Farm Service Center Page 2
Yosemite Avenue - Manteca, California
The field exploration program would be performed under the
technical direction of our field engineer, who would also
maintain a continuous log of the borings, obtain undisturbed and
bulk soil samples, observe groundwater and other site conditions , j
and record sampler driving resistance. The soils would be
classified according to the Unified Soil Classification System-
Laboratory Testing
Laboratory tests would be performed on selected samples to
evaluate their physical and engineering characteristics and to
aid in the engineering analyses. The testing program may include
shear and/or compression, consolidation, moisture/density,
classification, and R-Value test.
Engineering and Report
Based on the results of our field work and laboratory testing, we
would perform engineering analyses to evaluate soil parameters
influencing site preparation and foundations. The results of
these analyses would be the basis for our conclusions and
recommendations. These would be summarized in a formal report
containing the following:
1. Site plan showing boring locations;
2. Detailed logs of borings;
3 . Summary of laboratory test data;
4 . Discussion of overall surface and subsurface soil
and water conditions (if encountered) ;
5. Recommendations as to suitable foundation type
and depth for the proposed structure;
6 . Recommended allowable bearing pressures and
anticipated total and differential settlements;
7 . Recommended coefficient of friction and passive
pressure to resist lateral sliding of foundations;
8. Recommendations for concrete floor slab and base;
9. Suitability of local material for fill and
structural backfill;
10. Import fill specifications;
BSI,
&:,tir,c i,31i
