LLNL Emergency Plan <br />Rev-23 <br />October 2017 <br /> <br /> 58 <br />The ACFD, in addition to its contract for fire/emergency medical services at LLNL, provides <br />services to approximately 506 square miles with a daytime population of 384,000 people. The <br />department consists of 4 Battalions totaling 30 Fire Stations, 26 Engine Companies, 7 Ladder <br />Truck Companies, a Heavy Rescue Vehicle, Hazardous Materials Response Vehicle, Air/Light <br />Support Unit, and a Dozer, all of which are potentially available for response assistance at <br />LLNL. <br />Additional emergency response resources are also available to LLNL from the LPFD, other <br />nearby ACFD companies, and by activation of the Alameda County Mutual Aid Plan. <br /> <br />Summary of Fire Department Capability Maintained at LLNL: <br /> <br />ACFD Station 20 <br />Located in Building 323 at LLNL Site 200 <br />Residence for ACFD Battalion Chief #3 (Dublin, LLNL, and eastern Alameda County area) <br />Two crews (companies). Total of 6 firefighters* <br />Hazardous materials team station <br /> <br />3 – Type I Engines <br />1 – 105 Foot Ladder Truck <br />2 – Type III Wildland Fire Engines <br />3 – Type VI apparatus (patrols) <br />1 – Hazardous materials unit <br />2 – Ambulances <br />2 – Incident Command Cars <br /> <br />*Although only two crews are exclusively dedicated to LLNL, three crews (9 <br />firefighters) and three trucks are stationed onsite and are typically available for response. <br /> <br />ACFD Station 21 <br />Located in Building 890 at LLNL Site 300 <br />Houses one crew (company); Total of 4 firefighters <br /> <br />1 – Type I Engine <br />1 – Type III Wildland Fire Engine <br />1 – Type VI apparatus (patrol) <br />1 – Ambulance <br />4.1.5 Joint Information Center <br />In the event of an Operational Emergency with potential for offsite health and safety impact, a <br />JIC may be established at the Robert Livermore Community Center. Per requirements, this <br />location for the JIC falls outside of the one-mile EPZ. Public information officers from LLNL, <br />Federal, State, and local emergency response organizations will come together at the JIC to <br />coordinate and release emergency information to the public through the news media. See <br />Section 10 of this plan.
