LLNL Emergency Plan
Rev-23
October 2017

111
15.2 Corrective Action Program
LLNL has a comprehensive issues and corrective action management process described in
institutional procedures, PRO-0042 and PRO-0077. The process provides effective reporting,
analysis, resolution, and tracking of issues and provides an ordered process for resolving issues
from causal analysis and extent-of-condition review to determining the reporting requirements
and identifying the corrective action needed. The system also includes steps for tracking issues to
closure and validating the effectiveness of the actions taken.
15.3 Lessons-Learned Program
The LLNL maintains an institutional lessons learned program that is outlined in Operating
Experience Program, DES-0086. The program can focus on all employees down to a few
specific employees. Lessons can be from international events down to building events at LLNL.
The staff of the EMD incorporates lessons learned from simulated and actual emergency
situations that have occurred at this site, other DOE sites, or similar hazardous material facilities.
Lessons-learned from training and drill sessions are recorded and correlated with exercise
evaluations, and other readiness assurance activities to determine additional training program
needs. Lessons learned are communicated to the appropriate employees.
