i <br />2.7 Propane Spills and Releases (not at the plant) <br />Response to a spill or release of propane will vary depending on several key aspects: <br />quantity of spill, wind direction, availability of emergency response personnel, the <br />location of spill, population density, and proximity to roadway or an area frequented by <br />the general public. The following actions are to be used as a guide. The order in which <br />the action items are initiated will depend on the previously mentioned aspects of the spill <br />or release. However the selection of order must always be made with the following in <br />mind. <br />• First, protect our employees and the general public, <br />• Second, protect the property of others, <br />• Third, protect AmeriGas plant and equipment. <br />Event <br />1. If vapor cloud is moving toward inhabited areas or roadways or other areas <br />frequented by the general public, advise emergency personnel to immediately <br />evacuate or shut down the potentially affected area. <br />2. Do not attempt to shut down operation if this requires hazardous exposures to <br />products or vapors. Do not allow anyone in area with clothing, cell phones or other <br />equipment or materials that may generate static electricity or sparks of any kind. <br />3. Approach site on foot with caution, from upwind if possible. <br />4. If safe means are readily available, stop or reduce leakage by shutfing off source. <br />5. The Market Manager will initiate the emergency response notification. <br />6. A Company representative will notify emergency response personnel to assist in <br />evacuation, shutting down and controlling access to site.
