Primarily, this activity will consist of our staff traveling to the solid
waste facility on a regularly scheduled basis and removing the MRSH from the
appliances which have been received at the facility since our last visit. In some
circumstances, we may transport the appliances back to our facility for removal of the
MRSH (depending on the contract with the solid waste facility). In addition, we will
accept appliances from the public at our facility and remove the MRSH at our facility.
Once we have removed the MRSH, we apply a sticker to each appliance indicating the
MRSH has been removed, including our name and CAR ID#. In addition, a DTSC form
1430 is completed and left with the solid waste facility to forward to their metals
recycler, or if recycled at our facility, forwarded to our metals recycler.
The appliances that we will remove MRSH from include refrigerators, air conditioners,
freezers, washers, dryers, stoves, microwaves (we are additionally an electronics
recycler), trash compactors, space heaters, furnaces and water heaters.
Training
Training will be provided to all staff prior to the first time they assist with appliance
recycling.
