FIRST AID PROCEDURES AND EMERGENCY TREATMENT <br />In all cases of poisoning, follow standard procedures for poison <br />management, first aid, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Whenever <br />transporting a poisoned person to a hospital, bring the container, label, <br />or other information concerning the product (without delaying transport) <br />to assist medical personnel with diagnosis and treatment. Four different <br />routes of exposure and their respective first aid/poison managements are <br />outlined below: <br />Ingestion• <br />o dilute the poison by offering ana encouraging the person to drink <br />one or two glassfuls of Nater or mills. Do not use carbonated <br />fluias. Do not attempt to make the person vomit. <br />o Call the Pittsburgh Poison Information Center (1-412-681-6669). If <br />you cannot reach tie Poison Information Center, call or take the <br />person to the nearest hospital emergency department. <br />o notify your supervisor or health and safety officer of this or any <br />poison exposure. <br />Inhalation: <br />o ..top exposure by roving person from contaminated area to clean air <br />area. <br />o Cali the Pittsburgh Poison Information Center (1-412-681-6669) . <br />o Have someone call a rescue unit or medical professional. <br />o If necessary, transport person to an emergency medical facility <br />promptly. <br />ENVIR010r,ic BATA <br />
