If material is a powder, brush away using a cloth. <br />o 'dash off skin immediately with a large amount of water: use soap if <br />avai lable. <br />o Remove any contaminated clothing ana rewash skin. <br />o Call the Pittsburgh Poison Information Center (1-412-681-6669). <br />o Transport person to a medical facility as necessary. <br />o Gently rinse eye immediately, using large amounts of water, for <br />fifteen minutes, if possible, with eyelids held open. <br />o If possible, have perscn remove contact lenses if worn: never permit <br />the eyes to be rubbed. <br />o Call the Pittsburgh Poison Information Center (1-412-681-6669). <br />o Transport person to an emergency medical facility promptly as <br />necessary. <br />SECTION III. ACUTE TOXICITY <br />Exposure Routes: The primary routes of exposure are inhalation of vapor <br />and direct skin or eye contact with the liquid. <br />Toxic Effect Levels: <br />Inhalation human TCLO 200 ppm <br />Inhalation man LCLO 10,000 ppm (for 6 h) <br />Oral rat LC50 4,300 mg/kg <br />Inhalation rat LCSO 5,000 ppm (for 4 h) <br />Signs and Symptoms <br />Ingestion: Burning sensation in the mouth and throat. Other symptoms <br />are the same as those for inhalation (see below), except that lung <br />congestion .dill not usually develop. <br />Inhalation: Irritation of the eyes, nose, ana throat. At <br />concentrations above 200 ppm nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, <br />dizziness, staggering, drowsiness, severe breathing difficulties, and <br />unconsciousness may occur.
