Charter Way, Stockton, California
Dear Ms. Turkatte:
This letter report is submitted by Ground Zero Analysis, Inc. (Ground Zero) on behalf of Mr. Mark
Ranuio to summarize field activities and analytical results of soil and groundwater sampling at the
subject site. The work was conducted at the request of Wells Fargo Bank to explore the potential
presence of subsurface contaminants at the site. The location of the site is shown on Figure 1.
BACKGROUND
The site is located at the northeast corner of Charter Way 'and Fresno Avenue in Stockton, California.
The site previously housed three underground fuel storage tanks (one 500 -gallon, one 1000 -gallon, and
one 5000 -gallon capacity) which were reportedly operated by Signal Oil Company and Bill's Bait Shop.
The tanks were reported located beneath the dispenser island and were reportedly abandoned in place
by filling with slurry in 1981. k
In August 1989 Uriah Environmental of Livermore, California was- retained to explore potential
subsurface contaminants. A total of 12 exploratory soil borings were advanced to collect soil and water
samples from beneath the site. Analytical results indicated that soil had been moderately impacted by
petroleum hydrocarbons. Tabulated contaminant concentration data from that investigation is included
in Attachment A.
Following removal of the tanks, approximately 1530 cubic yards of soil were excavated under the
supervision of Uriah Environmental in 1990 to remediate contaminated soils beneath the site.
