Effects from Acute Exposure: <br />Eye exposure: Corrosive to the eyes with possible permanent damage depending on the length of exposure, solution <br />concentration and first aid measures. <br />Skin exposure: Corrosive. Effects may range from moderate to severe (corrosion) depending on the length of exposure, <br />solution concentration and first aid measures. <br />Inhalation: May cause irritation or corrosion of mucous membranes and the lungs. Exposed individuals should be <br />monitored for respiratory distress, bronchitis or pneumonia. <br />Ingestion: Ingestion is not expected to be a primary route of exposure. <br />2. Effects from Chronic Exposure: <br />The effects from chronic exposure to this product have not been fully evaluated. <br />SECTION 6 <br />TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION <br />Acute effects: Not tested. Expected to be moderately toxic based on components. <br />Irritant effects: Corrosive to skin and eyes. <br />Sensitization effects: None expected based on components. <br />Carcinogenic potential: Not listed in any of OSHA Standard, Section 1910.1200 sources as carcinogenic; not tested by <br />Buckman Laboratories, Inc. <br />Target Organ Effects: Skin and eyes (irritation) are expected to be the primary target organs of this product. <br />Other health effects: Caustic soda (sodium hydroxide) solutions can cause severe burns and complete tissue perforation <br />of mucous membranes of the mouth, throat, esophagus, and stomach if swallowed. Severe scarring of the throat can occur <br />after swallowing.
