The Workplan was submitted in response to
my 1 December 2008 letter which suspended quarterly monitoring pending the UST site closure,
required a fact sheet for public participation, a mailing list of owners with parcels within 200' of the Site,
and the Workplan. The Workplan proposes over-drilling the seven monitoring wells (MW-1 through
MW-7) to total well depth and grouting the borings to surface with neat cement under permit from the
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD).
The Workplan is tentatively approved with the following conditions:
• That the SJCEHD approves the permit as submitted,
• That the Public Participation Comment Period, which ends 20 February 2009, does not result in
any adverse comments, and
• That UniFirst Corporation be given an opportunity to take total charge (transfer liability and future
destruction) of any of the two wells located outside of the building for their chlorinated solvent
investigation and enter into an access agreement by 20 February 2009 for said wells which will
not be destroyed under this Workplan. Please contact John Gabbard at (209) 952-4244 to
transfer specific wells previously installed using State funds, and procure an access agreement
with the current owners of the Site Jim and Sheyla Creel at (209) 943-0991.
See https://geotracker.waterboards.ca.gov/profile report.asp?global id=T06077.00825 under Site
Maps/Documents to download the Workplan from the Internet. Please provide the SJCEHD and myself
at least three working days notice prior to fieldwork.
