EI Dorado Street, Stockton,CA 95202
RWQCB Case No. 391005
Dear Mr. Barton:
As directed in your letter of August 1, 2008, this letter summarizes site activities that occurred during the
month of August 2008.
FREE PRODUCT MONITORING AND GROUNDWATER SAMPLING
Groundwater sampling and free product monitoring occurred on August 12, 2008. Prior to monitoring water
levels in,site wells, an electronic interface probe was used the check for measurable product thickness in
well MW3. None was detected. A clear bailer was then used to retrieve a sample from the top of the water
column in the well and the sample was visually inspected. A slight sheen was noted by the technician
Water levels were measured in wells MWl through MW7 on August 12, 2008 using an electronic water
level indicator. The depth to groundwater in the wells ranged from 22.38 feet below the top of the well
casing (btoc) in well MW3 to 23.40 feet btoc in well MW5. Groundwater flowed in a northeasterly
direction with a average gradient of approximately 0.003 feet per foot.
Wells MWI through MW4 were purged and sampled on August 12, 2008 using clean, disposable bailers.
Purging was terminated at each well after physical parameters had stabilized and a minimum of three well
casing volumes had been evacuated. Groundwater samples were collected from each well using a disposable
bailer after the water level in the well had recovered to pre-purged levels.
The water samples were decanted into the appropriate containers, placed in an ice chest cooled to a
temperature of approximately 4° Centigrade and submitted to Argon Laboratory (ELAP No. 2359) under
chain of custody protocol for analysis. The sample from MW3 was analyzed for TPHg, TPHd, TPHk and
TPHmo using EPA Method 8015M; for BTEX by EPA Method 802111; and for fuel oxygenates and
additives by EPA Method 8260B. As per EHD directive, samples from wells MW 1, MW2 and MW4 were
analyzed only for TPHg, TPHmo, BTEX, oxygenates and additives since TPHd and TPHk were not detected
in the sample from MW3.
G:\GROUNDZEIGABBARD4eports\MON1NLY1SepR008.doc
