Box 0388 <br /> Stockton, CA 95201 -0388 <br /> Dear Mrs. Hinson: <br /> This letter is to just give you a status report of our remediation project. <br /> during the month of August. <br /> As we discussed, I left the vapor extraction unit shut down du g gu <br /> Since I restarted the unit in September, it has been impossible to keep running at the same <br /> flow rate as before the extended shutdown (I sometimes have had to restart <br /> the unit 4 or 5 <br /> times per day because the unit misses and stumbles when it is pulling from the wells). <br /> I consulted with VR Systems last week who' s theory is that during shutdown the natural <br /> "bugs" became more active creating a more active degrading process (possibly promoted <br /> by my injecting air into the wells periodically during the shutdown), creating more carbon <br /> dioxide at a faster rate than before shutdown. I asked VR Systems' representative if in the <br /> de <br /> past month and a half the carbon dioxide should have been depleted mostly and shouldn't <br /> the carburetor be closing now indicating that fresh oxygen is being pulled into the unit. <br /> The answer was that they have experienced times where the degrading process is going so <br /> good that the carbon dioxide is being produced faster than the vapor extraction unit can <br /> pull it out, and that the fresh air that is being pulled into the radius of influence actually <br /> causes a chain reaction type situation promoting the degrading process. This is good if it <br /> is factual. <br /> I have recently learned that I can keep the vapor extraction unit running if I create a false <br /> vacuum with the well ball valves and have been able to very slowly increase the flow rate <br /> while doing so. If you feel that it has merit, we can sample the vapor and have it analyzed <br /> for carbon dioxide and oxygen percentage to verify the VR System theory. <br />
