1 The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed Corrective
Action Flan (CAP), dated 10 June 2014 , prepared and submitted by your consulting firm ,
Advanced GeoEnvironmental , Inc. (AGE), on your behalf for the above-referenced site.
I In the CAP, ACE has proposed a work plan that includes :
Collecting soil samples for laboratory analysis by advancing a total of three pilot soil
borings to a depth of 120 feet below surface grade (bsg) , to install deep injection wells .
The proposed injection wells will be screened at depths between approximately 100 feet.
and 120 feet bsg and will be installed northeast from MW-9 and southeast from EWA
and VEW-2;
® Chemical analysis of soil samples for the following constituents : total petroleum
hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-g), benzene , toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes
(BTEX) , methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE) , tertiary-butyl alcohol (TBA) , Elksopropyl
ether (DIPS) , ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE) , tertiary-amyl mothyl ether (TAME) , 1 ,2-
dibromoethane (EDB) , and 1 ,24chlorethane ( 1 ,2-DCA) by a California- certified
laboratory;
® Application of three triweekly ISCO injections, under regulatory permit, utilizing wells
MW-9 , MWA3 , VEW-1 , VEW-2, EW-1 and three proposed injection wells. A 5 to 8
percent hydrogen peroxide solution will be injected into each well during the proposed
tri-weekly events. Performance of background and progress sampling using wells MW-
8 , MW-9, MW-11 , MW-13 and VEW-1 , VEW-2 , EW-1 and the three proposed injection
wells ;
= Post-ISCO sampling to be conducted two months after the final injection event- The
laboratory chemical analysis of groundwater samples will be for: TPH-g, BTEX, volatile
organic compounds, inorganic ions bromate, bromide, chloride, nitrate , nitrate as
nitrogen, nitrate as NO3 , sulfate, aluminum, antimony, arsenic, barium , beryllium ,
cadmium , chromium III , calcium , cobalt, copper, iron , lead , magnesium , manganese,
mercury, molybdenum , nickel , potassium , selenium , silver, sodium , thallium, acetone,
tungsten, vanadium and Hexavalent chromium ;
Measurement of depth to water (DTW) in shallow, mid-level and deep groundwater wells
and remediation wells. Prior to each purge volume , temperature , pH, TDS , oxygen
reduction potential (ORP) , salinity, turbidity, and dissolved oxygen (DO) will be recorded
at the monitoring wells ;
