f 13 May 2010
AGE-NC Project No . 07- 1529
Page 4ofIt
was calculated at 31 . 11 ft/day, or 0.0110 cm/s. Additional information concerning the aquifer
pumping tests can be found in the AGE-prepared Aquifer Pump and Ozone Infusion Bench Scale
Test Report dated 30 August 2008 .
TPH-g, benzene and 1 ,2-DCA concentrations have averaged 116,000 micrograms per liter (µg/1),
2,928 µg/I and 156 µg/1, respectively for well VEW-2 and 120,000 µg/1, 31 ,000 µg/1 and 472 µg/1,
respectively for well MW-9 (Table 5).
Based upon the lithologies near wells MW-9, VEW-2 and EW- 1 , aquifer properties and high
concentrations of the target contaminants (TPH-g, benzene and 1 ,2-DCA) approaching non-aqueous
liquid phase (NAPL) concentrations, RegenOxTM should work at the site and warrants a pilot study.
2. 1 . 3 . Pre-RegenOxTM Installation Background Ground Water Sample Collection
Prior to injection of RegenOxTM media, background ground water samples will be collected from
wells MW-9 and VEW-2 and analyzed by a California Department of Public Health (CDPH)-
accredited laboratory for the following:
• TPH-g in accordance with EPA Method 8015 Modified;
• Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX compounds) and the fuel additives
tertiary amyl methyl ether (TAME) and 1,2-DCA by EPA Method 8260B and
• Total organic content (TOC) .
Additionally, Oxygen Reduction Potential (ORP), dissolved oxygen (DO), pH and electrical
conductivity will be measured with a YSI 556 multi-probe system (YSI556MPS) within observation
wells.
Laboratory reports for ground water analysis, testing methods and laboratory quality
assurance/quality control (QA/QC), and sample chain of custody documentation will be presented
in a report with findings and recommendations.
2. 1 .4. RegenOxTM Installation
RegenOxTM is composed of two parts, Part A, the oxidizing agent that is in powder form and Part B,
the catalyst, which is in liquid form. Part A, Part B and water are mixed with water just prior to
- —injection. A pump and mixing device combine the powder and water until it reaches a slurry water - -
consistency. The slurry is a ratio of RegenOxTM Part A and B and water varying between 3% to 5%
Advanced GcoEnvironmcntal, Inc.
