• 3.0 HISTORICAL AND 2006 SITE ASSESSMENT ACTIVITIES
Assessment of petroleum hydrocarbon impact was initiated at the site in August 1989. Soil
boring depths, and information regarding construction of monitoring and remediation wells, are
summarized on Table 1. Soil boring and well locations are provided on Figure 2.
3.1 Summary of Environmental Investigations, Former Apache Plastics Facility
• Western Geologic Resources (WGR) directed the installation of groundwater monitoring
wells MW-1 through MW-4 between August 28 and September 26, 1989.
• WGR also directed the installation of groundwater monitoring wells MW-5 through
MW-7 between June 8 and 12, 1990.
• BSK and Associates (BSK) oversaw the installation of remediation wells VEW-1, MP-1,
and MP-2 between October 28 and 31, 1991.
• The UST and associated product piping were removed on August 11, 1992.
• Monitoring well MW-1 was destroyed on May 4, 1992, under the direction of BSK
personnel.
• EMCON Associates (EMCON) oversaw the advancement of borings CB-1 and CB-2
between October 23 and 24, 1996. Boring CB-1 was converted to a vapor extraction well
(VEW-2).
• Monitoring wells MW-8 and MW-9 were completed between February 22 and 24, 1999,
under the direction of EMCON personnel.
• Stratus oversaw the advancement of thirteen cone penetrometer test (CPT) borings
(CPT-1 through CPT-13) between February 5 and 24, 2001. Wells MW-10 through
MW-12 were subsequently installed in March 2001.
• Stratus directed the installation of monitoring wells MW-15 through MW-18, and the
destruction of well MW-12, between March 29 and 31, 2004.
3.2 Summary of Environmental Investigations, Former Sunland Gasoline -
Stockton City Cab Company Site
• Two 10,000-gallon USTs, the site .fuel. dispensers, and. associated. .prod uct.piping were.
removed on December 15, 1998. Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGI) collected
compliance soil samples at this time.
• • WHF, Inc. (WHF) directed the advancement of two soil borings (13-1 and B-2) to depths
of approximately 80 and 30 feet bgs, respectively, in February 2000.
K:SApache Plastios\Reportslapache-scm-assessment report2006.doc Page 5 57-KATUS
