• A soil vapor extraction (SVE) system was installed, and operated from June 1994 through
December 1996, then intermittently during the first quarter 1997. Soil vapors were
extracted from wells VEW-1 and VEW-2.
• Emcon Associates (Emcon) drilled soil borings CB-1 and CB-2 to a depth of 55 feet bgs
on October 23 and 24, 1996. Boring CB-1 was converted to vapor extraction well
VEW-2.
• Emcon installed groundwater monitoring wells B-2/MW-8 and B-l/MW-9 between
February 22 and 24, 1999. These wells were installed to depths of 104 to 105 feet bgs.
• Stratus advanced thirteen cone penetration test (CPT) borings (CPT-I through CPT-13) to
depths between 140 and 160 feet bgs between February 5 and 24, 2001. Based on the
results of the CPT study, Stratus installed groundwater monitoring wells MW-10 through
MW-12 to depths between 109 and 115 feet bgs between March 7 and 12, 2001.
3.2 Former Sunland Service Station
It is our understanding that two subsurface investigations have been performed at the Sunland
. site. Data regarding the installation date of the USTs is not available for inclusion in this SCM.
Locations of borings and wells installed on the Sunland site are included on Figure 2.
• Two 10,000-gallon gasoline USTs were removed from the Sunland site on December 15,
1998. Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGI) reported petroleum hydrocarbon impact
to soil beneath the former USTs, product dispensers, and product piping.
• WHF, Inc. drilled one soil boring to 80 feet bgs and one soil boring to 30 feet bgs in
February 2000. WHF also advanced two CPT borings at the former Sunland Gasoline
site. A report documenting the findings of the CPT investigation are apparently
unavailable.
i
p:\Apache Plastics\Reports\Apache SCM.doc Page 5 Stratus
