• <br />Chevron Products Company 2 <br />Former Chevron 9 5775 301 West Kettleman Lane Lodi CA March 8 2000 <br />MtBE was detected in the effluent port on the February 8, 2001 sampling event at a <br />concentration of 0 78 uglL The presence of MtBE in this sample is thought to be <br />associated with reconfiguration of the GWE system during carbon replacement activities <br />on January 26, 2001 <br />Between January 31 and February 28, 2001, the GWE system discharged a total of <br />343,057 gallons of treated groundwater over a period of 28 days (Table 2) As of <br />February 28, 2001, the GWE system has treated a total of 1,182,182 gallons Calculated <br />discharge rates during the January monitoring period ranged from 8 15 to 8 74 gallons <br />per minute <br />During the February monitoring period the system extracted approximately 0 72 pounds <br />of TPHg, 0 007 pounds of benzene, and 10 43 pounds of MtBE To date, the system has <br />extracted approximately 4 94 pounds of TPHg, 0 131 pounds of benzene, and 60 20 <br />pounds of MtBE <br />System Modifications <br />A temporary variance for the discharge of MtBE was requested by SECOR and granted <br />by Mike Schafer of the City of Lodi on February 13, 2001 This variance was requested <br />due the detection of MtBE in the effluent sample on February 8, 2001 The detection of <br />MtBE is thought to be attributed to the reconfiguration of the GWE system on January <br />26, 2001 <br />On February 14, and 16, 2001, the GWE system was temporarily taken off-line to <br />further reduce the potential discharge of MtBE System modifications and preventative <br />measures taken included <br />• Change -out of carbon vessels A and B (February 14, 2001) <br />• Pressure washing of vessels A and B (February 14, 2001) <br />• System reconfigured with vessels A, B, and C, plumbed in series as 1, 2, and 3, <br />respectively <br />• Change -out of carbon vessel C (February 16, 2001) <br />• Pressure washing of vessel C (February 16, 2001) <br />• Change -out of all system hoses (February 16, 2001) <br />Summary of Violations <br />There have been no violations of the discharge limitations during the February discharge <br />period <br />077 41991 043/Discharge Report <br />
