. r <br /> HOW TO RESPOND TO AN AMMONIA RELEASE OR HAZARDOUS MATERIAL SPILL <br /> 1. Identify the release/spill location and material involved. (NH3, Aqua, Oils, Fuels, UAN32) <br /> 2. In the case of a hazardous material spills such as fuel or any type of oil: <br /> 1. Contain the spill & prevent it from entering the Storm or Sewer system by using the "Spill <br /> Response" material located at the plant. <br /> 2. Eliminate ignition sources for flammable hazards in the area. <br /> 3. Inform your supervisor of the material, the amount, the time, and response measures. <br /> 4. Wear the appropriate PPE for stopping the spill & for the clean-up and place in the <br /> appropriate hazardous waste storage container. <br /> 5. In the case of a large spill: Contain, Stop, & call supervisor who will make the decision if <br /> we need to bring a Hazardous Waste Contractor for clean-up. <br /> 3. In case of an Aqua and NH3 releases make appropriate phone calls: <br /> *****Plant Manager: Dale Thigpin (209) 403-2240 <br /> *****As necessary, call the Port Police at (209) 946-0246, push Red button in control room, <br /> on Port Police radio located in the control room, or on Channel 6 on CALAMCO handheld <br /> radio. (COMING SOON) <br /> 4. The "Emergency Coordinator" shall notify: <br /> 1. SJC Environmental Health @ (209) 468-3420 NOV 0 7 2016 <br /> 2. National Response Center (NRC) @ (800) 424-8802 NME`vTAL HEALTH <br /> 3. California Emergency Management Agency (CAL/OES) @ (800) 85"WEPARTMENT <br /> 5. Follow emergency evacuation protocol as necessary and meet at one of the emergency <br /> evacuation stations to perform a head count and ensure proper emergency response <br /> communications have taken place. <br /> 6. Each of the 3 emergency evacuation stations (East Rail Gate (B), West of Railrack "Sal's <br /> Shack" (A), and the Southgate @ UAN32 berm fence (C) will be labeled "EMERGENCY <br /> EVACUATION STATION A, B, OR C" and will outlined with reflective tape) will contain: <br /> 1. Handheld company radio <br /> 2. Phone <br /> 3. WIFI Access (@UAN32 (C) and Railrack "Sal's Shack" (A) only) <br /> 4. Air Purifying Respirator with NH3 cartridge <br /> S. Evacuation plan with important phone numbers <br /> 6. Clipboard for documentation of the incident, time sequence, and employee headcount. <br /> 7. Rechargeable flashlight <br />
