ENVIRONMENTAL T b RiSB ASSESSMENT
i
Risk assessment is a logical',analytical approach.
to evaluate and estimate the probable health effects or
adverse environmental impacts of a particular contaminated
site, the mitigation technologies, cost effectiveness and
public perception. If the risk is considered not
significant, a no action alternative is practicable. If the'
risk is considered significant, remedial alternatives are
selected which are technically feasible to eliminate the
contaminant to a nonsignificant risk. !Risk assessment is
used to evaluate alternative strategies and to select that
approach which achieves the optimum balance between
reduction of risk, implementation costs, and other factors
of concern in the specific project situation.
Ground water was found at a depth of +45' . The
data shows that a threat to ground water does not presently
exist. With the removal of the source'aand excavation of
contaminated soils at the site, the migration of the
contaminate has been eliminated. The environmental risk to
human health and safety is nonsignificant. No further
investigation is recommended at this time.
I
k
1 k
I
i
s
i
GeoPlus Consulting Services
Page - 16
f ;
