Site Background Information: Ralph's Square-Bui
AGE-NC Project No. 07-1537
• Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes (BTEX)compounds were reported in
fifteen of nineteen soil samples at concentrations ranging from 0.005 mg/kg
(toluene, sample 132-30) to 89 mg/kg (toluene, sample 131-30).
• Methyl-tertiary butyl ether(MTBE)was reported in fourteen of nineteen soil samples
at concentrations ranging from 0.007 mg/kg (sample 132-50) to 40 mg/kg (sample
131-40). Tertiary butanol (TBA), was detected in one of nineteen soil samples at a
concentration of 0.26 mg/kg (sample 133-30).
• Di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), tertiary-amyl methyl
ether (TAME), ethylene dibromide (EDB) and 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) were
not reported in any of the soil samples submitted for analysis.
In May 2007, six soil borings were advanced at location CPT-1 for cone penetrometer
testing. CPT-1 was located approximately 12 feet north of monitoring well MW-3 (Figure
2). A total of four grab ground water, and four soil samples were submitted to a CDPH -
approved laboratory for analysis.
• TPH-g was reported in all four of the grab ground water samples at concentrations
ranging from 140 micrograms per liter (pg/1) to 1200 fag/I.
• BTEX compounds were reported in all four of the grab ground water samples at
concentrations ranging from 1.8 pg/I to 25 pg/I benzene, 7.5 pg/I to 140 pg/I toluene,
1.8 pg/I to 34 pg/I ethylbenzene, and 8.3 pg/I to 193 pg/I xylenes.
• MTBE was reported in all four of the grab ground water samples at concentrations
ranging from 1.4 pg/I to 150 pg/I.
• TPH-g was reported in one soil sample at a concentration of 710 milligrams per
kilogram (mg/kg).
• BTEX compounds were reported in three of the four soil samples at concentrations
ranging from 0.021 mg/kg to 1.7 mg/kg toluene, 9.0 mg/kg ethylbenzene, and 0.016
mg/kg to 91 mg/kg xylenes.
• MTBE was reported in two of four soil samples at concentrations of 0.030 mg/kg,
and 0.010 mg/kg.
In June 2007 three soil borings (MW4, MW5 and MW6) were advanced by All Well
Abandonment at the site. The borings were sampled and then completed as ground water
monitoring wells, MW-4, MW-5 and MW-6. A total of fifteen soil samples were submitted
to a Department of Health Services (DHS) - approved laboratory for analysis. No
constituents of concern were detected in any of the soil samples collected from borings
MW4, MW5 and MW6.The ground water monitoring network has been monitored six times
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
