08 December 2008
AGE-NC Project No. 07-1537
include a description of work performed, results of the soil/groundwater sampling and analysis,
conclusions and recommendations. The report will be in a format acceptable to CVRWQCB
guidelines, and will be reviewed and signed by a California Professional Geologist.
3.0. FIELD PROCEDURES
All field procedures will be overseen by an AGE representative under the supervision of a California
Professional Geologist.Procedures for the advancement of one soil probe boring, soil sampling, grab
ground water sampling, equipment decontamination, sample shipment and boring abandonment are
outlined below.
3.1. PROBE BORING ADVANCEMENT
One probe soil boring(B5)will be advanced to a depth of 40 feet bsg using a van-mounted Geoprobe
5400 direct-push probing unit equipped with 1.25-inch probing rids. The Geoprobe advances soil
borings using a hydraulic hammer to drive soil sampling tools to specified depths.
3.2. SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
Soil samples will be collected at discreet five-foot intervals using a 1.25-inch Geoprobe soil
sampling assembly loaded with four six-inch stainless steel sleeves.Upon sample retrieval, the ends
of the second sleeve will be covered with Teflon sheets, capped and sealed with tape.
Appropriately sealed and labeled samples will be placed in a chilled container under ice and
transported under chain-of-custody procedure to a CDPH-certified laboratory. Each sample sleeve
will be labeled with the boring designation, depth, time, date and sampler's initials.Additionally, soil
sample duplicates will be field-screened for the presence of volatile organic compounds using an
organic vapor meter(OVM), equipped with photo-ionization detector (PID).
3.3. GRAB GROUND WATER SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
For the collection of grab ground water samples, the soil probe boring will be advanced to the top
of the ground water table as identified by collection of a saturated soil sample. Once ground water
has been encountered, a Geoprobe push-driven water sampling device will be advanced four feet
into the water-bearing zone. A grab ground water sample will be collected using a Geoprobe water
sampling assembly fitted with a pre-cleaned,one-inch diameter 0.01-slotted temporary well screen.
The ground water sample will be extracted by lowering a polyethylene bailer through the hollow
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
