08 December 2008
AGE-NC Project No. 07-1537
2.2. SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
AGE proposes to advance one soil boring(B6)approximately 150 feet south east of monitoring well
MW-5, a location closer to the well is not accessible. Boring B6 is proposed on private property; if
AGE is not given permission to access private property several contingent locations have been
proposed. Proposed boring and contingent boring locations are illustrated on Figure 2.
Soil boring B6 will be advanced to a depth of 50 feet below surface grade (bsg). Soil samples will
be collected at five-foot intervals beginning at 20 feet bsg and extending to the total soil boring depth
(approximately 40 feet bsg). Field procedures for advancement of the probe boring and collection
of soil samples are presented in Sections 3.1 and 3.2.
Selected soil samples will be analyzed by a state of California Department of Public Health(CDPH)-
certified analytical laboratory for the following constituents:
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) in accordance with EPA
Method 8015 Modified and,
• Benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene and total xylene (BTEX) and oxygenated compounds: di-
isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), methyl tertiary-butyl ether
(MTBE), tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME), tertiary butanol (TBA), methanol, ethanol,
ethylene dibromide (EDB) and 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) in accordance with EPA
Method 8260.
Laboratory reports of both soil and ground water analyses, testing methods, laboratory QA/QC
reports, and sample chain of custody documentation will be presented in a report.
2.3. GRAB GROUND WATER SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
A grab ground water sample will be collected from soil probe boring B6 during the boring process
using a Geoprobe water sampling assembly. Samples will be collected into 40-mL volatile organic
analysis (VOA) vials as appropriate for the required analyses, both without preservative. Grab
ground water sample procedures are presented in Section 3.3. Grab ground water samples will be
analyzed by a CDPH-certified laboratory for the constituents listed in Section 2.2.
2.4. PREPARATION OF A REPORT OF FINDINGS
Following the boring advancement a report will be prepared presenting the findings. The report will
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
