From: Anderson, Paul (PSC) [mailto:PAnderson@pscnow.com]
Sent: Friday, July 10, 2009 12:35 PM
To: Vicki McCartney [EH] .
Subject: RE: GW Monitoring Reduction Request Letter - Global ID #T0607700044, Case #19093, Sara
Lee 2651 South Airport Way, Stockton
Vicki,
Thank you for your response.
I went ahead and scheduled the 3rd quarter sampling event upon receiving your 'but of
office" reply.
I wanted to be cautious and go ahead sample just in case you had not had a chance to
review the letter yet.
On a side note, John Carrow had been working on a Feasibility Study for the site.
After the May 19th Resolution, we switched to performing a risk assessment evaluation
for the possibility being able to obtain closure based on concentration verses time
modeling and fate and transport attenuation rates.
I have not seen the attenuation evaluations yet, but if they look good would we still be
required to complete the deep well installation and the feasibility study and additional
remediation activities?
I appreciate your feedback to help guide us in recognition of the Resolution and how it
may affect our pathway to Closure.
Thank you.
Paul Anderson
From: Vicki McCartney [EH] [mailto:vmccartney@sjcehd.com]
Sent: Friday, July 10, 2009 12:09 PM
To: Anderson, Paul (PSC)
Subject: RE: GW Monitoring Reduction Request Letter - Global ID #T0607700044,. Case #19093, Sara
Lee 2651 South Airport Way, Stockton
Paul:
I did review your letter dated June 18, 2009, and I met with Nuel Henderson, PG, on June 30, 2009, to
discuss the sampling reduction schedule proposed by PSC. I drafted a letter on July 1, 1009, based on
discussions during the meeting with Nuel. Unfortunately, Nuel has been sick and is currently on vacation
until July 13, 2009, so he has not reviewed the contents of the letter yet.
I can tell you that our department approves the proposed sampling schedule presented by PSC with the
condition that MW-4.and MW -8 be included in the annual sampling event scheduled for the second quarter
of each year.
The letter also concurs with the recommendation presented by PSC to conduct a soil vapor evaluation.
To address concerns that contamination detected in grab groundwater samples collected at 120 - 125 feet
below ground surface may be the result of "carry -down" from the sampler, our department is
7/10/2009
