(ETIC) for PSC Environmental
Services (PSC) on your behalf. EHD concurs with recommendations presented in the
work plan to advance four cone penetrometer test (CPT) borings to depths of
approximately 100 feet below ground surface (bgs) to generate continuous logs of
computer -interpreted soil types to aid identification of approximately five optimal
locations between 50 and 100 feet bgs to collect depth -discrete grab groundwater samples
from individual borings advanced adjacent to each CPT borehole.
ETIC proposes to advance CPT -4 approximately twelve feet west-northwest of borehole
H13; and in addition to collecting grab groundwater samples, ETIC proposes to collect
one soil sample at approximately 23 feet bgs to laterally delineate hydrocarbon
contamination south of the former gasoline underground storage tank (UST) excavation.
Noting that soil samples collected from H13 at five-foot intervals to total depth of fifty-
five feet bgs were nondetect for chemicals of concern (COC), EHD recommends CPT -4
be relocated just south of the storm sewer pipeline and in line with boreholes H10 and
H11, the two boreholes where COC were detected at high concentrations at 23 feet bgs.
ETIC proposes to advance CPT -5 at the eastern edge of the former gasoline UST
excavation about two feet east of borehole 2B. EHD believes CPT -5 would be better
located halfway between boreholes 2A and 213, approximately in the center of the former
UST pit, and closer to borehole H9 where high concentrations of COC were detected in
groundwater samples and soil samples collected at 54 feet bgs in November 2006. In
addition to collecting grab groundwater samples, soil samples should be collected to
vertically delineate hydrocarbon contamination at the source area.
ETIC proposes to advance CPT -6 approximately three feet west of borehole H1; and in
addition to collecting grab groundwater samples, ETIC proposes to collect two soil
