UVE.A.
-MAY_2 4 2004 -
ENVIRONMENT HEALTH=
- INDUSTRIAL OUTSOURCING PERMIT/SER%W21,-2004 -
cRouP Project'62400145:
Ms. Vicki McCartney, REHS
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department
304 East Weber. Avenue, Third -Floor
Stockton, California 95202-2708
Dear Ms. McCartney -
Subject: -Subsurface Investigation Work -Plan =_
The Earthgrains Company Facility
2651 South Airport Way - Stockton; California
This letter is in response to your April 15, 2004 -correspondence to Sara Lee
Bakery Group that provided recommendations to the February 20, 2004 _
Subsurface -Investigation Work Plan (Plan) for the subject facility. Your
recommendations are summarized below and are followed with our response:
Advancementofone additional boring, B-7, to a depth of approximately 35 feet
bgs located adjacent-to.the sump north of the former dispenser to characterize
lithology and assess the vertical extent of impacted soil
To address your recommendation„ we propose that the location of boring B-3 be
adjusted about 10 feet to the west as originally proposed to assess subsurface
conditions in this area. It is our opinion_that data from this boring and the riearby
B 2
boring - will adequately assess -the magnitude and -extent of impacted soil north `--
of the former USTs.
Advancement -of at -least one CPT boring to'a depth of 120 feet using at least
one of the proposed boreholes located near the former-USTs-to characterize
hydrogeology and lithology.
We agree. that one boring should be drivento`a relatively deeper interval in this
area to characterize lithology. However, we would= propose- the- depth to be 100
feet rather than the recommended=120 feet because -this shallower depth will be
the maximum. interval where we -will proposethe-collection of groundwater
samples.(see following item). - --
PHILIP ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICESCORPORATION
210-West-Sand Bank' Road, ,P.O.
