SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS
1
Groundwater-monitoring has been conducted at this facility since 1987 to evaluate
1 groundwater quality A summary of the current site conditions and a
recommendation for subsequent work are as follows
' • During this event, the average depth to groundwater among the wells was
47 60 feet bgs (-30 92 feet msl), which indicates an approximate 2 56 foot
decrease in elevation from the previous event The groundwater flow was Z 2
generally easterly at a gradient of approximately 0 003 feet per linear foot A '
0 The total well depth measurements indicated that an appreciable amfit of
silt may have infiltrated wells MW-5, MW-7, SP-1, SP-5, and SP-6 Wells
MW-5, MW-7, and SP-1 will be redeveloped, if possible, during the next
quarterly event Wells SP-5 and SP-6 will no longer be sampled
' • BTEX and/or TPH-g were detected in the groundwater samples from wells
MW-1, MW-5, MW-7, MW-11, SP-1, SP-2, SP-6, PZ-1, and PZ-2
' • The current BTEX concentrations were evaluated against the California
Drinking Water MCLS Based on the current groundwater monitoring data,
the MCL for benzene was exceeded in wells MW-1, MW-7, MW-11, SP-1,
PZ-1, and PZ-2 The MCL for toluene was exceeded in wells -1 and
SP-1 The MCL for ethylbenzene was exceeded in wells MW-AanPZ-1
The MCL for xylenes was exceeded in wells MW-1 and SP-1 Vlp"
® The analytes TBA, DIPE, ETBE, and/or TAME were detected in wells
MW-1, MW-5, MW-7, SP-1, and PZ-1
• The analyte 1,2-DCA was detected in wells MW-1, MW-5, MW-7, MW-8,
MW-12, and SP-5 Based on the current groundwater monitoring data, the
MCL for 1,2-DCA has been exceeded in wells MW-1, MW-5, MW-7, MW-8,
MW-12, and SP-5
Based on the results of the November 2005 sampling event, it appears that further rtr+
groundwater remediation is warranted at the site PSC recommended that sampling-Q
from wells MW-3 and MW-6 be discontinued, wells MW-5, MW-7, and SP- be
' redeveloped, if possible, during the next quarterly event, and well MW-10 be sample Gso PZ- 2
on an annual basis (during the third quarter) SJCEHD agreed to the r L,
recommendations in correspondence dated December 13, 2005 The SJCEHD also
tapproved the discontinuation of sampling wells SP-3, SP-4, SP-5, and SP-6 during -
the November 10, 2005 meeting SJCEHD also recommended that the April 2003
Site Conceptual Model be modified and the October 2004 Fate and Transport Models
be revised The revisions will be submitted in subsequent quarterly reports
