2.4.1 Venting Blowers
The venting blowers currently Installed in the equipment trailer at the
facility have capacities of approximately 250 cfm at 55 in H2O vacuum
The venting blowers are oversized for this application, but the marufolded
piping system in the trailer allows for control of the venting flow rate from
each vent well The venting blowers are equipped with all necessary flow
meters, vacuum gauges, flow control valves, and sample ports It is
anticipated that only one of the venting blowers will be used at a time
during remediation Because of the low maintenance required for the
1 venting blowers, operation of each blower will not be automatically
alternated
2.5 Sparge and Vent Piping
The air sparging and soil venting wells will be located around the perimeter
of the building as shown in Sheet 3 The sparge and vent piping from the
wells to the building will be Installed in trenches below grade Trench
' locations are shown on Sheet 4 The piping will then be routed along the
outside wall of the building to the equipment trailer The vent piping will
be installed at a grade to drain accumulated moisture back to the well or to
collection points at the equipment trailer
Piping connections at the well heads will be pressure tested prior to
backfilling The individual air sparging wells will be connected to the
compressors with 1-inch PVC piping and the individual soil venting wells
will be connected to blowers with 2-inch PVC piping
2.6 Vapor Treatment
' The proposed remediation system will use two granular activated carbon
(GAC) adsorbers Installed in series Each GAC adsorber will contain
approximately 1800 pounds of carbon Hydrocarbon impacted air will pass
through the GAC adsorber where hydrocarbon compounds will be filtered
to levels acceptable for atmospheric discharge Vapor samples collected
from between the two GAC adsorbers will be used to evaluate the need for
replacement of the first adsorber The spent GAC will be returned to the
' supplier for regeneration Permits to treat impacted air will be obtained
from the local air quality management district
Final Remediation Plan
Prepared for RAINBO BAKING COMPANY5 Prepared by Burlington Environmental Inc
E 112138211259971TESTEVAL.DOC 2/1/95
