3 GROUNDWATER MONITORING RESULTS
U TS
' Groundwater elevation data, and analytical results are discussed in this section
Laboratory analytical reports are contained in Appendix 1
3.1 Groundwater Elevation Data
Groundwater elevations measured in site monitoring wells on November 8, 1999
(summarized in Table 1), ranged from minus(-) 23 19 feet to--23 76 feet MSL
Groundwater levels in the wells decreased approximately 1 5 feet from the
' previous August 1999 monitoring event As shown in Figure 3, the groundwater
flow direction is east-northeast at a gradient of about 2 2 x 10"3 feet per foot,
which is consistent with historic trends
3.2 BTEX and TPH-G Analytical Results
BTEX compounds were detected in groundwater samples collected from wells
MW-1, MW-12, SP-1, SP-2, PZ-1, and PZ-2 The highest BTEX concentrations
' appear to be centered near the former gasoline USTs and the locations of wells
MW-1 and SP-1 (see Figure 4) BTEX compounds were not detected in samples
collected from wells MW-4, MW-9, MW-10, and MW-13, in contrast to the
detection of trace levels in these wells measured in the previous August 1999
monitoring event
Detected benzene concentrations ranged from 14 gg/l, in the sample collected
from monitoring well MW-12, to 2,800 gg/l in the sample from SP-1 Toluene
ranged from 4 4 gg/l, in the sample from MW-12, to 1,300 gg/l in the sample
' from MW-1 Ethylbenzene ranged from 2 2 µg/1, in the sample from MW-12, to
840 gg/l in the sample from MW-1 Xylenes ranged from 1 2µg11, in the sample
from MW-12, to 4,100 gg/l in the sample from SP-1 These BTEX concentrations
' are slightly lower than those measured in the August 1999 monitoring event
Higher TPH-G concentrations also appeared to be centered in the vicinity of the
1 former gasoline USTs (Figure 5) TPH-G concentrations ranged from 1,300 µg/1,
in the sample from well PZ-2, to 20,000 gg/l in the sample from MW-1
3.3 Oxygenates Analytical Results
1 DIPE was detected in samples collected from wells MW-1, MW-4, MW-12, SP-1,
and PZ-1 D1PE was not detected in samples collected from MW-9, MW-10,
7
November 1999
Groundwater Monitoring Report
The Earthgrams Company
2651 South Airport Way
Stockton,California
Prepared for THE EARTHGPAINS COMPANY Prepared by Philip Services Corp
January t7,2000
