Shaving cream containing tracer compounds, such as pentane, isopropanol, isobutene,
propane, or butane will be used. The shaving cream will be placed prior to sampling at any
location where ambient air could enter the sampling system or where cross contamination
may occur. These locations will include, sample system connections and surface bentonite
seals. Sampling will not be conducted during wet conditions. Samples will be collected in
Summa canisters. URS will utilize a mobile laboratory during the investigation. The
mobile laboratory will be able analyze the sample while URS is in the field allowing for
sampling adjustments if tracer compounds are detected in the sample. One duplicate
sample will be collected during the investigation. The canister is under vacuum and allows for
sample collection. Samples will be analyzed using soil gas Method TO -14 for VOCs.
Report Preparation
Following the completion of the activities, URS will prepare a report summarizing the results of
this and the April/May investigation.
Schedule
The field activities are tentatively scheduled to begin on Tuesday, September 4, 2007, and take
approximately two days to complete.
1
Stockton FMS Proposed Boring Locations. pdf Stockton FMS Soil Samples Apr -May 2007.xis
Stockton FMS GW Samples Apr -May 2007.x1s Stockton FMS Soil Gas Samples Apr -May 2007.xls
Thanks,
Vern Elarth, P.G.
Senior Geologist
URS Corporation
2870 Gateway Oaks Drive, Suite 300
Sacramento, CA 95833
(916) 679-2299
cell: (916) 717-5045
fax: (916) 679-2900
This e-mail and any attachments are confidential.
