The Licensed Professional will
oversee the remedial activities during all phases of work, including soil sampling, boring logs,
data analysis, and report preparation. All field procedures (e.g., permitting, sampling protocol,
chain -of -Custody, Health and Safely Plan, etc.) will follow county and Stare guidelines-
210
uidelines.
2 0 UNDERGROUND UTILITIES
Prior to conducting any drilling activities at the site, the location of underground utilities will be
checked by reviewing available blueprints of the site and by contacting Underground Service
Alert with at least 48 hours prior notice. All laws regarding excavating around underground
utilities will be followed including marking the proposed area for drilling with white paint at least
48 hours prior to drilling and daylighting any utilities using band tools for utilities "located"
within 2 ft of the proposed boring location. PG&E crews will be utilized to locate all
underground electric and gas supply lines. In addition, a soil probe and/or magnetic locator will
be used at proposed drilling locations where the presence of underground utilities remain
unknown. The upper 3 to 5 ft of each borehole will be advanced using a hand auger, postbole
digger, or similar device.
3.0 DRILLING AND SAMPLING PROCEDURES
3.1 Sell Boring and Soil Sampling Using a Gmprobe, Stratnprobe or Equivalent
Hydraulic -Push and Vibratory Rig
Shallow soil borings will be advanced and sampled using a truck -mounted Geoprobe or
Stratoprobe rig that uses hydraulic pressure and sometimes vibratory energy to advance
and sample subsurface soils. Samples of the subsurface soils will be either continuously
cored or discretely sampled using either a 2 -ft or 4 -ft long, tubular steel sampler, and the
soil samples will be retained in the sampler in tramparent acetate liners.
The following procedures will be used for collecting soil samples using a Geoprobc
(or similar) rig:
1. Prior to sampling, the Geaprobe soil sampler will be steam cleaned or
thoroughly washed with a solution of Alconox or non phosphate TSP
and rinsed with potable water. The sample liners will be new from the
factory in their original shipping carton, and will not require washing.
