Site Health & Safety Plan UST Removal and Replacement
574 West Grantline Road
Tracy, CA
9.0 Decontamination Procedures
The following procedures are in place in the event that hazardous materials
are found and contact to personnel and equipment is evident. If no
contamination is found, the decon operations will only be required at the
desecration of Site Safety Officer.
9.1 Personnel Decontamination
All contaminated personal protective equipment will be deposited in
containers on-site for off-site disposal or decontamination. Reusable
equipment will be rinsed on site and containerized for further off-site decon.
A water wash and rinse basin will be provided in the Contamination
Reduction Zone for this purpose (if necessary). Wash water will be
minimized and will be containerized on site until site characterization has
been completed.
Soap and water will be available for personnel to wash up after work or if
skin contact occurs during the workday.
9.2 Equipment Decontamination
Any equipment that came in contact with potentially contaminated
materials will be properly cleaned before leaving the site. Other equipment
will be washed in the same manner as the personal protective equipment,
i.e. with a brush and water.
9.3 Decontamination Materials
All decon water and disposable personal protective equipment will be
containerized until levels of contamination on the site have been established.
All containers will be properly sealed and labeled.
Prepared By: December 18, 1998
Environmental & Safety Resources Page 9
(510) 536-6444
