• EPA INSPECTION •
2/21/13
1. 6 gal. solvent wipe can labels were faded, had inconsistent labeling (some
had oily waste label and hazardous waste label), hinges were broken, and
containers were not being emptied on a daily basis.
Corrective action: Ordered 95 new solvent wipe cans — Received
3/15/13. (See attached Grainger Order Details). Ordered pre-printed
"EMPTY DAILY" labels. All of the 6 gal. solvent wipe cans in the
facility will be collected and replaced with the new solvent wipe cans
with the new labels. All of the solvent wipe cans will be labeled the same
way to address the inconsistent labeling. This should be completed by
3/29/13 or a week after receipt of the labels. Per training conducted on
2/27/13, solvent wipe cans will be emptied daily. Periodic checks of the
solvent wipe cans will be made prior to the start of work.
2. 55 gallon drums in the satellite accumulation areas were full. Need better
control.
Corrective action: Per training conducted on 2/27/13, continue practice
of contacting Tony Badgett, Bob Kennedy, or Lon Kitagawa whenever
drum is full. Drums on a dolly with the red drum covers will be
assembled in advance to expedite the replacement of drums when they
become full. (See attached Grainger Order Details).
3. Prime line — kraft paper in the chromium contaminated debris drum was
overfilled causing damage to the lid resulting in an open container.
Corrective action: The damaged lid was repaired on 2/22/13 and
subsequently replaced with a brand new one on 2/28/13. Per training
conducted on 2/27/13, continue practice of contacting TonyBadgett, Bob
Kennedy, or Lon Kitagawa whenever drum is full and do not overfill
drums.
4. Prime line and paint shop — Latching funnel system does not prevent vapors
from escaping.
Corrective action: New funnels and bung wrenches were purchased and
funnels will only be placed into the drum when adding waste to the
drum.
