5. Prime line had a contaminated pot liner under a filter.
Corrective action: A pivot tray table was fabricated and installed so it
will only be used when changing the filter. (See attached photos).
During the changing of the filter, a container is placed onto the table
and placed under the filter. The collected waste is then poured into the
hazardous waste drum.
6. Prime line — eye wash station blocked
Corrective action: The eye wash water collection drum was moved
from in front of the eye wash station to under the eyewash station
(corrected at time of inspection)
7. Old container of MEK had faded label.
Corrective action: The MEK container was re-labeled and the
container was subsequently disposed of.
8. Hazardous waste storage buildings had rainwater accumulation in the
secondary containment area. Unable to detect the presence of leaks.
Corrective action: Samples were collected from each of the hazardous
waste storage buildings and sent to an outside lab for analysis. (See
attached CLS Analytical Results). Since none of the rainwater was
determined to be hazardous, it was discharged to the sewer. An
additional line item was added to the daily inspection checklist to ensure
that the secondary containment area is free of liquids (See attached
Daily Inspection Checklist). The storage buildings were also
repaired/retrofitted by R&S Erection in an attempt to prevent the
accumulation of rainwater.
9. Hazardous waste found in the trash cans. Bldg. lA - Syntactic foam in
mixing cups, Bldg. 2 — Residue on mixing cups, Bldg. 5 — Swabs
contaminated with resin, Cleaning center — glove contaminated with
Alodine.
Corrective action: Employees were trained on 2/27/13 to scrape out
mixing cups as much as can feasibly be removed, (per the DTSC Fact
Sheet on Managing Empty Containers dated 2009) then throw the cups
into the trash, throw all resin contaminated mixing sticks, swabs, wipes,
debris into the solvent wipe containers along with any visibly
