Hazardous waste generators shall retain copies of all manifests signed off by <br /> the disposal facility and all receipts used in a consolidated manifesting procedure on site for three years and have <br /> them readily available for review. Immediately locate a copy of the disposal manifest for the above waste, maintain <br /> on site, and submit a copy to the EHD. <br /> Disposal manifests were not found for spill waste from several 2017 incidents reported to the SJCEHD: <br /> 1. Spill occurred on April 18, 2017, one 50 gallon drum of absorbent/batteries waste was generated. <br /> 2. Spill occurred on Aug 14, 2017, one drum of four batteries waste was generated. <br /> 3. Spill occurred on Aug 17, 2017, two drums of herbicide, epoxy/sheer-loxane, mineral oil, sodium carbonate <br /> peroxydate waste was generated. <br /> 4. Spill occurred on Sept 14, 2017, one drum of paint/marine enamel waste was generated. <br /> 5. Spill occurred on Sept 19, 2017, one 55-gallon drum of contaminated cardboard waste was generated. <br /> 6. Spill occurred on Oct 2, 2017, one 55-gallon drum of autobody polish and contaminated cardboard waste was <br /> generated. <br /> Immediately locate a copy of the disposal manifest for the above waste, maintain on site, and submit a copy to the <br /> EHD. <br /> This is a Class II violation. <br /> 301 CCR 66262.34(d)(2) Facility not maintained to minimize the release of a hazardous waste. <br /> Diesel dispenser shows signs of leaks. Absorbent potentially contaminated with diesel was found around the <br /> dispenser. Facilities shall be maintained and operated to minimize the possibility of a fire, explosion, or release of <br /> hazardous waste to air, soil, or surface water which could threaten human health or the environment. Immediately <br /> fix leaks and remove the used absorbent, and manage according to Title 22 hazardous waste regulations. Submit a <br /> statement and supporting documentation explaining how this waste was managed. <br /> This is a Class II violation. <br /> 601 CCR 66262.34(d) Stored hazardous waste onsite greater than 180 days. <br /> Hazardous waste container identified as number 10, paint-related material, did not have an accumulation start date <br /> on the label. Facilities who generate less than 1000 kg of hazardous waste per month and do not exceed 6000 kg <br /> of waste stored on site at any time may store waste on site up to 180 days.
