j <br /> 0 <br /> Job Title: Manager of Safety and Operations Reports To: Deputy General Manager <br /> FLSA Status: Exempt Job Code: <br /> Department: Operations Approved By/Date: <br /> SUMMARY: <br /> Assists in implementing HTS1 and ACE Policy consistent with the daily operating plan, <br /> Supervises Train and Engine employees and plans the daily train and switching <br /> operations consistent with safety and efficiency. Conducts operational tests and safety <br /> meetings, by monitoring and controlling costs to meet goals and objectives. Investigates <br /> accidents, injuries and rules violations to ensure compliance to all rules and special <br /> instructions. <br /> Ensures compliance with HTSI employment policies, safety and operating Miles, schedule <br /> agreements and government regulations. <br /> ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: <br /> • Supervises train and engine crews assigned to the daily operating service, <br /> while interfacing with the ACE operations center and Union Pacific Passenger <br /> Operations Department, as well as local Union Pacific, JPB and BNSF <br /> management to insure total contractual compliance. <br /> • Performs fitness for duty checks of assigned employees while monitoring all <br /> daily operational perfoirnances. <br /> • The Manager of Operations is responsible for maintaining all employee <br /> engineer certification records and for all operational testing of employees <br /> consistent with part 240 of the code of federal regulations. <br /> • The Manager of Operations is responsible for monitoring and preparing the <br /> daily On Time Performance reports as well as the daily and monthly operating <br /> statistics,while monitoring and reviewing employee time cards. <br /> • Monitors and investigates all ACE related train delays <br /> • Arranges and coordinates all extra train movements with the Union Pacific <br /> and local Union Pacific officials <br /> • Monitors and adjusts ACE operating schedules while working closely with the <br /> ACE Director of Operations,Union Pacific,Amtrak,Caltrain and JPB. <br /> • Interfaces on a daily basis with the HTSI mechanical department to insure <br /> proper train dispatch. <br /> • Performs all yearly engineer certification evaluations, and qualifies all new <br /> hire employees after completion of their on the job training. <br /> • Perform special projects as assigned by General Manager. Perform all duties <br /> in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards. <br />
