Job Title: Maintainer Reports To: Equipment Supervisor FLSA Status; Non-Exempt Job Code: Division/Dept.: Mechanical Reviewed/Updated: 05/25/2016 SUMMARY: Performs inspections,general maintenance and repairs on rail equipment, including management of machine setup,troubleshooting,repairs and preventive maintenance service. Main duties are primarily standard and repetitious in nature. Works under direct supervision of Equipment Supervisor. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Assists Equipment Supervisor. • Performs daily inspection of mechanical, electrical and pneumatic systems on diesel locomotives and passenger railcars (rail equipment). • Conducts both interior and exterior inspections on rail equipment as required by federal and state regulatory agencies as well as company implemented policies and procedures. • Completes equipment inspection forms,work order forms and other forms as required. • Prioritizes and completes repairs within scheduled allotted time in response to defects noted on train crew daily inspection report. • Completes assigned repairs in an efficient and timely manner. • Cleans and maintains work area,tools and shop equipment. • Operates locomotives with or without attached passenger railcars within the maintenance facility. • Services restrooms on rail equipment including waste removal,potable water and biocide replenishment. • Participates in and successfully completes required on-going training and periodic written,oral and hands-on testing. • Assists Maintenance Mechanic in repairing and maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment. • Performs emergency/unscheduled repairs of rail equipment,while in service and/or out of service. Performs scheduled maintenance repairs of rail equipment while in service and/or out of service. • Performs mechanic skills including,but not limited to,mechanical, electrical,pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of rail equipment.
