• Reads and interprets equipment manuals,work orders and other necessary items to perform required maintenance and service • Comply with OSHA Safety and Health rules, and all other federal, government and union rules and regulations. • Perform all duties in conformance to applicable safety and security standards. • The employee can be depended on to report to work at the scheduled time and is seldom absent from work.Employee can be depended upon to complete work in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner and is conscientious,about assignments. • The essential duties and responsibilities contained herein describe the scope of this position,but should not be considered to be an all-inclusive listing of work requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: • Ability to accomplish the described duties through the use of appropriate hand and pneumatic tools, skills and acquired knowledge. • Willingness to learn new skills and abilities relative to the maintenance of rail equipment. • Possess proven experience in mechanical, electrical and/or pneumatic systems maintenance. • Ability to follow instructions in written, oral and diagram form. • Ability to understand and follow safety rules,work rules,Federal Regulations and procedures,and to understand,follow and implement regulation,work rules and company procedures. • Perform quality work efficiently with minimal supervision. • Ability to work flexible shifts,schedules and overtime. • Ability to work well in a team environment. • Ability to complete tasks within a specified time period. • Ability to read,understand and interpret equipment repair manuals relative to maintenance,repair and trouble shooting. • Ability to report to work on-time. • Ability to accept constructive criticism. • AbiIity to function independently without requiring assistance from, or disturbing the work of others. • Must have ability to climb steps on side of locomotives and work at heights of fifteen feet or more. • Visual acuity and hearing required. • Ability to hear,interpret and orally transmit clear, accurate directions using a two- way radio required.
