Job Title: Service Maintainer Reports To: Equipment Supervisor FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Job Code: Division/Dept.: Mechanical Reviewed/Updated: 05/26/2016 SUMMARY: Performs maintenance, inspection and repair on commuter rail cars and locomotives,as well as other duties as assigned. Working under the general direction of Equipment Supervisor and Maintainer. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Performs daily inspection of mechanical,electrical and pneumatic systems on diesel locomotives and passenger railcars(rail equipment)using written task list within a specified time period. • Conducts both interior and exterior inspections on rail equipment as required by federal and state regulatory agencies as well as company implemented policies and procedures. • Completes equipment inspection forms, work order forms and other formes as required. • Prioritizes and completes repairs within scheduled allotted time in response to defects noted on crew daily inspection report. • Completes assigned repairs in an efficient and timely manner. • Operates basic hand tools including digital multimeters,pneumatic tools and testing equipment in a safe,proficient manner. • Cleans and maintains work area,tools and shop equipment. • Work is performed both individually and within a group. • Operates as certified locomotive engineer moving equipment within the service facility. • Sei vices restrooms on rail equipment including waste removal,potable water and biocide replenishment. • Assists Maintainer,Equipment Supervisor and Manager of Equipment, as instructed. • Complete required periodic testing and training. • Participates in and successfully completes required on-going training and periodic written, oral and hands-on testing. • Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards. • Able to perform in depth troubleshooting and repair.
