0 0 <br />Emergency Response <br />Sims Metal Management June 2010 <br />13.1 Local Law Enforcement must be notified if findings or conditions indicate that <br />evacuation of a local area is warranted. The Emergency Coordinator must be <br />available with information obtained to aid authorities in this case. <br />13.2 In the case of a major release (Reportable Quantity, RQ); Sims Metal <br />Management NW will notify local Fire Department of the release. <br />13.3 The Following Information must be conveyed to authorities: <br />13.3.1 Name and phone number of person making the report <br />13.3.2 Name and address of facility <br />13.3.3 Time and type of incident <br />13.3.4 Name and quantity of material involved <br />13.3.5 Extent of injuries associated with release <br />13.3.6 Possible hazards to human health and the environment outside the facility <br />13.4 See Appendix A for emergency contacts. <br />14.,0 Inspection of Emergency Equipment <br />14.1 Inspection of all safety equipment necessary should be inspected daily. <br />14.2 Fire Extinguishers. Portable fire extinguishers should be rated A, B, and C and <br />are for use on small fires only. All portable fire extinguishers should be inspected <br />monthly or after each use, which ever occurs first, and prior to the start of each <br />shift on which the extinguisher will be dedicated. Licensed inspectors as dictated <br />by OSHA must service extinguishers every year. A damaged or discharged <br />extinguisher or any extinguisher with a broken seal is to be taken out of service <br />immediately. <br />14.3 Safety Showers and Eye Wash Stations. As with extinguishers, all safety <br />showers and eye wash stations should be inspected for proper function at the <br />beginning of each shift at which they will dedicate. <br />14.4 Respiratory Protection. All respiratory protection is to be inspected prior to use <br />and daily by Sims Metal Management NW supervisors. <br />14.5 First Aid Kit. The first aid 'kit should be regularly inspected by the SHEC <br />Coordinator or his authorized alternate and deficiencies reported to management. <br />15.0 Evacuation Procedure <br />15.1 In the event of an incident requiring evacuation of an area, (fire, spill, bomb <br />threat, et cetera) the Sims Metal Management NW employee witnessing the <br />threat condition shall immediately notify the Emergency Coordinator. <br />15.2 Evacuate to the rally point for roll call. If evacuation is to be performed for a <br />chemical spill 1 release, follow the North American Emergency response <br />Guidebook's guidelines for evacuating the area, moving upwind and uphill.
