Observed oil from air compressor on the floor, two hoses attached to the air compressor ended at a <br /> sewer drain, evidence of ink splatters in a wash sink plumbed to the sewer, and oily waste rags under <br /> the adhesive heating unit and oily spill under the air compressor in the 17 Aurora building. Facilities <br /> shall be maintained and operated to minimize the possibility of a fire, explosion, or release of hazardous <br /> waste to air, soil, or surface water which could threaten human health or the environment. Immediately , <br /> and manage according to Title 22 hazardous waste regulations. Submit a statement and supporting <br /> documentation explaining how this waste was managed by 11/17/2012. Hoses attached to the air <br /> compressor unit were moved away from the sewer drain during this inspection. <br /> 804,807,808. Unable to determine the length of storage of two Universal Waste CRT at the referenced <br /> facility, and one fluorescent lamp not stored in a container in 17 Aurora building. Universal Wastes, <br /> including aerosol cans, lamps, alkaline batteries, mercury containing switches, CRT, electronic devices, <br /> etc. shall be stored in a closed container that prevents breakage and release to the environment, labeled <br /> to identify the type of Universal Waste, demonstrate the initial date of accumulation, managed within one <br /> year of storage, and retained a copy of the disposal receipt for at least 3 years on site. Immediately <br /> dispose of the above Universal Waste - lamps and submit a copy of the disposal receipt to EHD by <br /> 11/17/2012. <br /> NOTES <br /> The facility generated 4.58 tons of hazardous waste in 2011. Facility generates hazardous waste from <br /> paint and related materials used for label manufacturing operation. Facility is scheduled to close <br /> operation at this address and moving to Lodi by November 2012. Please be aware a final hazardous <br /> waste inspection is required to verify all hazardous waste has been properly removed before the facility <br /> can be removed from hazardous waste generator inventory at this location. Annual permit is required as <br /> long as facility remains on the inventory. <br /> Facility operates a recycling unit processing paint waste. The recycling unit generates filter cakes which <br /> are then baked to a solid before disposal to landfill. The liquid used in the process is reused within the <br /> close-loop recycling unit. Generator was under the impression that the recycling unit does not involve <br /> treatment of hazardous waste; however, previous analyses both pre-treatment solution and filter cakes <br /> in 2005 indicated the waste contained hazardous level of copper. Please be aware that a treatment <br /> permit is required if hazardous waste treatment is begin conducted. <br /> Facility regenerates old or wrong color paint into usable black paint by combining the paint in a 55-gallon <br /> drum.
