VI. HAZARDOUS WASTE ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION•
1. Newark produces a waste petroleum lubricant generated
from the cleaning/maintenance of the pit conveyor, and
other machinery used in the paper production. On
occasion, floor sweep is inadvertently combined with this
waste, and the resulting mixture is hauled as hazardous
waste. In 1990, Newark generated 10. 02 tons of this
waste and it was all taken to The Kiesel Company
(Kiesel) , #1 Branch Street, St. Louis, Missouri. In
1991, they generated 4. 19 tons of the waste. One of
these loads was taken to Petroleum Recycling Corporation
(PRC) , 1835 E. 29th Street, Signal Hill, California,
90806. All other waste grease loads in 1991 were
transported to Kiesel. In 1992, 3 .71 tons of this waste
was generated, and it was taken to PRC or Summit
Environmental Corporation (Summit) , 3033 W. Mission Road,
Alhambra, California, 91803 .
2 . Newark produces a waste oil generated from the
maintenance of the fork lifts, as well as other machinery
in the facility. This oil from the different sources is
not separated, and so all waste oil generated is counted
when determining the tonnage produced. In 1990, Newark
generated 6.76 tons of this waste. One load in 1990 was
transported to Refineries Services (RS) , 13331 N. Hwy 33 ,
Patterson, California, 95363 , and all others to Kiesel.
In 1991 4 . 35 tons were generated with one load going to
PRC and all others to Kiesel. In 1992 , Newark produced
3 . 98 tons of this waste with loads going to Ramos
Environmental Services (Ramos) , 1515 S. River Road, West
Sacramento, California, 95691, and to RS.
3 . In the process of cleaning up incidental spills, Newark
generates a waste diatomaceous earth saturated with fuel
oil. In 1990, they produced 24 .81 tons of this waste,
and it was transported to Chemical Waste Management
(CWM) , 35251 Old Skyline Road, Kettleman City,
California. In 1991 and 1992, Newark did not generate
any of this waste.
4 . A small amount of waste oil contaminated with solvent is
generated only when accidental mixing occurs. In 1990,
Newark generated .58 tons of this waste, and it was all
transported to Kiesel. In 1991, . 66 tons were produced,
and it was taken to Kiesel. In 1992, none of this type
of waste was generated.
5. At individual stations throughout the facility, waste
solvent is generated from the cleaning of parts. The
transport and disposal of this waste solvent is performed
