Identification of Waste Streams <br /> Waste generating processes <br /> Waste #1 Petroleum Naphtha <br /> This solvent is used in several locations at our facility for cleaning and <br /> degreasing. Safety Kleen Corporation removes the used solvent and <br /> replaces it with new on a routine basis. Safety Kleen recycles the <br /> so Ive nt. <br /> Waste #2 Rejects <br /> This wastestream consists of material that cannot be used to make paper. <br /> It includes material that is rejected in any of the initial papermaking steps <br /> including engine blocks, wire, staples, plastics, adhesives, etc. This <br /> waste is compacted and sent offsite to an approved TSDF for fuel <br /> blending or landfilling (class 3). This wastestream is non hazardous. <br /> Waste #3 Oil and Grease <br /> { The majority of this wastestream comes as a result of the drying sections <br /> on the paper machines. Oil and grease are continually discharged from <br /> this equipment due to the abundance of lubrication needed to keep the <br /> bearings functioning properly. The oil, grease and dirt from the <br /> surrounding area is scooped up and drummed. The wastestream is <br /> manifested and hauled to an approved hazardous waste facility for <br /> landfilling. This wastestream also includes absorbent and spill clean up <br /> material. <br /> Waste #4 Used Oil Mixture <br /> This waste is generated in the maintenance/truck shop from changing <br /> truck oil and gear box maintenance. The oil is picked up on a routine <br /> basis by Ramos Environmental and recycled offsite. <br /> Waste #5 Asbestos Building Material <br /> The building which Newark Sierra occupies was built in 1917. There are <br /> several areas throughout the facility which contain asbestos. Asbestos <br /> remediation has been an on going process since 1989 and is expected <br /> to continue indefinitely until all of the asbestos of concern is removed. <br /> The asbestos removal is being performed by an a certified and qualified <br /> outside contractor The waste asbestos is manifested and sent to an <br /> approved disposal facility for landfilling. <br /> Newark Sierra Corporation 800 W.
