• -All bills of lading, manifest, receipts of sale must be kept for a minimum of 3 <br />years. APG keeps these records indefinitely. <br />• Batteries must be stored indoors or under a tarp. <br />• -These are general guidelines only, for specific information consult your <br />regional EHS engineer. <br />Reclaimed Freon- All types of refrigerant recovered from salvage vehicles. <br />• -Heavily mixed/contaminated Freon may be a hazardous waste. <br />• -Relatively pure Freon that is recyclable is a hazardous material and still must be <br />properly labeled, stored and handled with care. <br />• -Cylinders must be labeled with a DOT "non-flammable gas" label and the type <br />of Freon in the tank must also be indicated. (R-12, R-I34A are the two main types <br />found in cars) <br />• -Do not vent Freon to the atmosphere! If there is a leak or problem with Freon <br />cylinders or recovery machines, contact maintenance and EHS immediately. <br />• -All compressed gas cylinders (including Freon) must be stored chained to the <br />wall at 1/3 and 2/3 the height of the cylinders. <br />• -All bills of lading, manifest, receipts of sale must be kept for a minimum of 3 <br />years. APG keeps these records indefinitely. <br />• -These are general guidelines only, for specific information consult your <br />regional EHS engineer. <br />Mercury Switches- Hood/Trunk mercury switches and Mercury containing ABS <br />switches. <br />• Mercury is a hazardous waste that is so common it is in a special category of <br />waste. To encourage proper disposal it is classified as "Universal Waste" which <br />included relaxed requirements. <br />• It should still be safely stored, labeled and handled with care. Your mercury <br />switch disposal vendor (ELVS or Switch Out) will provide you with the proper <br />containers and labels. <br />• -All bills of lading, manifest, receipts of sale must be kept for a minimum of 3 <br />years.
