LLNL plans to continue the existing source reduction measures and best management <br />practices such as limiting the number of wax layers that can be applied prior to stripping, <br />performing floor care only when needed and continuing to evaluate alternative floor <br />cleaning products that could lead to the reduction or elimination of hazardous waste. <br />Note that the 2010 waste volume from this process is included in the CWC 132 table in <br />Section 2 and is not in the CWC 134 total. <br />3.4 Or¢anic Liquid from Oil/Water Separator for Fleet Maintenance <br />The liquid from Oil/Water Separator for Fleet Maintenance was reclassified from CWC <br />134 to CWC 223 to more accurately describe this waste. The 12,450 IN of this waste <br />generated in 2006, was essentially the same as the 12,750 lbs generated in 2010. <br />Use of the oil/water separator continues to function well as a source reduction measure, <br />by separating out the oils and allowing the water to meet sewer discharge release <br />requirements. Otherwise, the waste stream generated from steam cleaning and car wash <br />operations would be significantly higher. <br />Note that the 2010 waste volume from this process is included in the CWC 223 table in <br />Section 7 and is not in the CWC 134 total. <br />3.5 Ground Water Treatment Unit Scale Removal Onerations <br />In 2010, 1,566 lbs (identified as CWC 134) of this waste stream were generated at Site <br />300, compared to 836 Lbs (identified as CWC 132) in 2006. Although included in the <br />2007 SB 14 plan, the waste produced from ground water treatment unit scale removal <br />operations was significantly below SB14 reporting requirements. This waste stream <br />continues to be below SB14 reporting requirements. <br />Environmental restoration operations continue to use Belsperse 161, a commercial <br />product used to reduce scale formation, thus reducing the need for scale removal. Base <br />conditions vary from year to year as facilities are operational or down for <br />maintenance/repair, causing some variability in waste generation.
